The region

The Priorat region is a region located in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia. Its name comes from the Carthusian monastery of Escaladei, the first Carthusian monastery established in the Iberian Peninsula in the twelfth century. The Priorat is known for its landscape of mountains, vineyards and olive groves, as well as for its high quality wine with designation of origin. The Priory also offers a rich historical and cultural heritage, with monuments, museums, natural spaces and historical ensembles that reflect its history and diversity.

The county of Priorat

The Priorat is an exceptional territory. Although it is one of the smallest counties in Catalonia, its name is getting louder and louder. And it’s not just because of its wines (from the prestigious Priorat and Montsant denominations), but also because of the quality of its agricultural products, the spectacular landscapes, the calmness that breathes in the villages and the good life there. Everyone talks about the Priorat, at these heights, as a territory with a high quality of life. To all this we must add a varied and attractive tourist offer, which has turned the Priorat into a fully consolidated inland destination.
