Tips for Drinking Wine in Spring and Summer

Tips for Drinking Wine in Spring and Summer

The month of May is flying by and the temperatures are rising. Now’s the time people no doubt feel more like getting together with family, taking in the sun on these first days of warm weather… And of course having a nice meal with a nice cool wine. Take note because today we’re going to give you a few tips for getting the most out of such a moment!

Choose the right wine to match light dishes

Creamy soups, cured meats, grilled fish, salads… In spring, and especially in summer, people tend to eat lighter dishes which often even include cold ingredients. They even feel more like drinking refreshing wines. We recommend matching those simple summery recipes with white or rosé wines that combine perfectly with these kinds of dishes. If you drink a red wine, it’s important to serve it at the right temperature.

Always remember the temperature of the wine

Yes, as we were saying, it’s very important to serve wine at the correct temperature. White, rosé and bubbly wines must be kept at low temperatures so we recommend keeping an ice bucket nearby to keep it just right.

Choose a wine that’s a bit acidic

The acidity of the wine will give you a refreshing feeling so one aspect to keep in mind when choosing a wine is the degree of acidity. In fact, the fresh flavour along with the acidity and the red berry finish in the mouth are precisely what the body wants when it’s hot.

Always think about the alcohol volume

You should choose wines on hot days that don’t have too much alcohol or you could get dehydrated. And having two glasses of water for every glass of wine you drink is highly recommended if you want to avoid such a situation.

Tast amb Llops, 10 years of wine adventure

Tast amb Llops, 10 years of wine adventure

Tast amb Llops, organized by the Hotel Cal Llop, has become a wine festival of reference for wine lovers.

From a meeting of friends to a reference event for wine lovers. The essence, however, remains the same: “talk about wines, laugh and enjoy a good time”. Tast amb Llops, the wine festival of Gratallops, celebrates the tenth edition next April 30 in the framework of the Wine Fair. With the intention of publicizing the wines made by Gratallops wineries and guest processors, more than 50 wineries from around the world have already passed through the oenological event. Wines, gastronomy, music and good company have been the traveling companions, over the last ten years, of Tast amb Llops.

The first edition was held in 2006 when “we met two friends, young Gratallops winemakers, and we thought about tasting, a party between us and some nearby guests to celebrate their first wines made in the Priorat” explains Cristina Jiménez, owner Of the Hotel Cal Llop and organizer of the tasting. The intention was clear: to have a good time. “Talk about wines, laugh and enjoy a good time tasting the first wines they had made, listening to their secrets and their stories”.

From the meeting between friends came the idea of professionalizing the meeting and expanding the circle to enjoy the appointment with other fellow travelers. “The following year of the first edition, we decided to do it in a more professional way and it was proposed the organization of the Falset Wine Fair, to include the event in the framework of the contest. In addition, the Celler de Capçanes also began with its first Night of the Garnatxes and was great because they were born the first events that were added to the Wine Fair “explains Cristina Jiménez.

A strong bet that has been consolidated as a reference oenological appointment with ten years of experience. “We took advantage of the fact that from the DOQ Priorat, the designation: Vi de Vila was being developed” and we talked with other Gratallops winemakers to invite them to participate and the 10 magnificent Tast amb Llops were joined and now we are 12 unconditional “adds Cristina.

The objective was to highlight the unique personality of Gratallops wines and their particular expression, fruit of the characteristics of the area. Apart from the Gratallops wineries, in parallel, they also began to invite other wineries in the region and around the world. The public profile of the wine festival is similar: “curious, passionate about wine, endowed with an extraordinary hunger and refined taste in the musical aspect”, explains Cristina Jiménez.

After ten years, it’s time to look back and take stock. “We have become ten years older, more rancid, but in the positive sense that wine also has after aging well,” explains Cristina. The desire to have a good time and share good wines are the same as the first day: “we continue with the same spirit: talk, laugh, drink excellent limited edition wines and meet another year with all of us, those who have accompanied us, Old and new friends, to continue listening to their stories and secrets, “adds Cristina.
