A moveable feast of Priorat wines: Fira del Vi!

A moveable feast of Priorat wines: Fira del Vi!

You are a wine-geek who wants to know everything about Priorat wines or a gastronomical lover whose wine experience can’t be considered complete and integral without local gastronomy? Or you just want to spend your time unforgettably with family, friends… and with a glass of fine wine in a picturesque place? Then Fira del Vi is a perfect place to visit for you!!!

Organized by the City Hall of Falset, Fira del Vi is the main 3-days wine event in Priorat region which celebrated 23st edition this year and gathered around 80 wineries of DO Montsant and DOQ Priorat in the heart of Priorat, in Falset in the first days of May. Each year Fira del Vi is increasing and expanding, inviting the guests to take part in versatile activities not only in Falset but also in other villages of the region. For instance, Clos Figueras in Gratallops hosted “Tast amb Dones”, a unique event where visitors had a chance to taste wines elaborated solely by female oenologists; Celler Masroig organized Food Trucks, a gastronomical event with music and circus artists, an ideal experience for the families with children.

But one of the most special, exclusive and finest events held during Fira del Vi is “Tast amb Llops”. Why the most exclusive? Well, firstly because it brings together the great wines produced by 10 wineries in Gratallops to which access is often hindered for reasons of price or exclusivity. As you might guess, world-known Priorat pioneers are among them! Doesn’t it sound delighted to taste the last vintage of Alvaro Palacios or Clos Mogador? Or even more, to explore the cava of Penedes, wines of Canary islands and Germany in a beautiful rural setting filled with sounds of live music and aromas of spring? The cherry on top will be staying for a night in Cal Llop, rural house which hosts this special event. So don’t miss your chance! Book your ticket now for the next edition of “Tast amb Llops” as the number of places is rather limited!

¡Hasta la próxima Fira del Vi!

Do you want to discover the authentic Priorat? To explore the pure Priorat “classic blend” of Carignan and Grenache (Garnatxa) or to taste blends with a hint of French touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah? To meet the smallest winery of DOQ Priorat with the production of only 3000 bottles of wine? Or to taste rigorous and exclusive wines of the winery founded by famous Catalan singer Lluís Llach? Then you definitely should visit the local Wine Fair “Tasta Porrera”, held annually in the heart of Priorat region, in the small village called Porrera.

On the 24th of March 17 winemakers of Porrera village gathered together under one roof aiming to promote the wine culture of the region. The Association of the Cellars of Porrera with the support of the City Council, the Regulatory Council of the DOQ Priorat and Vinum Priorat organize this wine fair annually, welcoming about 2000 of wine lovers. The wineries offer tastings of their wines in exchange for tasting tickets which can be purchased at the entrance. Besides, you have the chance to get familiar with local gastronomy! Just imagine: a professional cortador (cutter), slicing jamón (jam) and serving it directly on your plate! Tables full of home-made bread, artisanal olive oil, charcuterie and various desserts! Doesn’t it sound delicious? And by the way haven’t I mentioned the live music?

Indeed, the organization of the event deserves high praises as you have everything needed to enjoy the event: your personal glass, a special tasting book with the list of all wineries presented on the event and containing essential information about each wine. There is even a separate zone where you can buy the wines you liked for special prices from producers!

No doubt, this wine event is rather unique: it guides you in the world of rurality and authenticity, giving the possibility to take a glance at the real life of local people. Don’t lose your chance! Come and feel this cozy atmosphere of passionate winemakers, devoted to their land and culture!
