A sea of olive trees in the heart of Priorat

A sea of olive trees in the heart of Priorat

When you enter the Priorat, it is easy to be captivated by the strength of its landscape. Between hillside vineyards and mountains that hug the sky, a sea of olive trees stretches out that beats with an ancestral calm. For centuries, these olive trees have been part of the character of the territory. They not only shape it visually, but are a living heritage, cared for with dedication by generations of farmers who know each tree as if it were family.

With the golden light of sunset, this green sea is transformed into an almost magical spectacle. The olive trees, with their twisted branches full of life, are witnesses to centuries of history. In fact, some are over 500 years old! They have withstood droughts, winds and changes, and today they continue to give away an oil of exceptional quality, recognized for its intensity and deep flavor.

This natural treasure can be seen and experienced up close in many places in Priorat. In places like Cabacés, Margalef or El Masroig , the paths take you among centuries-old olive trees, surrounded by silence and Mediterranean aromas. They are ideal places to walk, stop and connect with the essence of the land.

In addition, several mills and cooperatives open their doors for you to discover the entire production process: from manual harvesting to cold pressing, through the tasting of extra virgin oils that will not leave you indifferent. These spaces are also often combined with wine tourism experiences, pairings with DOQ Priorat or DO Montsant wines, and cultural routes.

SUCCESS of the first PRIORITY TIME party

SUCCESS of the first PRIORITY TIME party

This weekend, the first edition of the Temps de Priorat Enoturisme festival was held in the Priorat region, with the collaboration of INCAVI and the Provincial Council of Tarragona.

In total, more than 200 people have gone through some of the activities organized by the members of Priorat Enoturisme, small-format activities that, in most cases, have sold out.

The wide offer, with activities for different audiences and ages, has revolved around wine, gastronomy and culture, with many agents and economic drivers of the region involved, from wineries to restaurateurs, including accommodation, oil mills, etc.

The assessment of the party by the association is very positive: “For being the first edition we can be very happy”, says Gemma Peirí, from Mas Ardévol, one of the precursors of the party.

“Different audiences, different locations and activities for all tastes have made people move around the region and through the establishments of the members”, he remarks.

And this was the main objective of the association with the organization of this party, to embrace the essence of the Priory by immersing the visitor in its rugged landscapes; celebrate diversity by offering a variety of experiences that suit a wide range of interests.

Foster inclusion through a welcoming and accessible environment for all and collaborate with local residents and businesses to ensure personalized visitor experiences.

Helena and Ignasi, Penedès

“He blew our minds with some of the pairings, very daring” He was commenting on Gorka who attended the Tasting to change sidewalks at Celler Clos Pachem in Gratallops.

Gorka M.

“Next year we will have to come and spend the whole weekend to enjoy everything you have set up at the Priorat” and that was the aim of the party, a taste of everything the Priorat can offer during all year round and much more than a visit to a winery or a lunch in a restaurant.
