Day 1. Arrival and check-in at Cal Giral 2 in Cornudella de Montsant. Welcome briefing.
Dinner at LoRefugi Gastrobar.
Day 2. “THE CRADLE OF THE PRIORATE”, Escaladei
– Visit to the Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei , the first Carthusian monastery in Spain and the birthplace of the Priory
– Guided visit to Cellers de Scala Dei , the emblematic place where, in 1878, the first bottle of Priorat wine came out.
– Lunch at Escaladei (not included)
– Guided visit to La Conreria d’Scala Dei , a winery born from the will and enthusiasm of a group of people historically linked to the Priorat, with the desire to make known to the world the magnificent wines that are made in this land
Day 3. “OIL, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PRIORY”, Cabacés
Accompanied by the owners of the Miró Cubells Mill , you will discover the olive trees, the mill and enjoy a traditional lunch accompanied by one of the best oils in the world: arbequina oil!
Day 4. “THE MODERN PRIORY”, Gratallops
In the 1980s, the Priorat was in a state of decline, with abandoned vineyards and impoverished wineries. However, a group of pioneers recognized the potential of the unique terroir and old vines. Gratallops in particular became the center of this revolution and the town became a focus of innovation and production of high quality wines.
– Guided visit to the Clos Figueras Winery and lunch at the Les Figueres Restaurant : Clos Figueras was acquired in 1997 by Charlotte and Christopher Cannan. Clos Figueras has an original estate of old Grenache and Carignan vines. In addition, other varieties such as syrah, cabernet and viognier have been planted. Les Figueres is a wine tourism and restaurant area that bets on local, organic, seasonal and good quality products to prepare food and tapas.
– Guided tour Clos Pachem : In 2015, Michel Grupper started the global wine project in the Priorat to which he gave the name Clos Pachem, an acronym for the names of his children: PAul, CHarles and EMma. A winery focused on its people, on the history of the Priorat and on a philosophy of sustainable cultivation, which allows the creation of subtle and elegant wines that create experiences and accompany unique moments.
Day 5. “COOPERATIVISM AND MODERNISM”, Falset
You will discover the essence of the cooperative movement in DO Montsant from a wine cathedral: the Falset Cooperative . A great modernist project by Cèsar Martinell and which currently continues to group winegrowers who manage the entire process of production, elaboration and marketing of wine.
– Lunch at the Brichs restaurant in Falset.
– Montsant&Priorat wine tasting with dishes at LoRefugi Gastrobar .
Day 6. Breakfast and return home.
