Celler Sangenís and Vaqué
Sangenís i Vaqué is a family winery that emerged in 1978 when Pere Sangenís and Conxita Vaqué began planting vines on Pere’s estates in Porrera, under the DOQ PRIORAT. These lands had belonged to the maternal branch of his Montlleó family since before 1700 and had mainly been cultivated with vines.
In 1978, they began making wine in the old cellar of Josep Simó, Conxita’s grandfather, producer and merchant of wine since 1886, which later became known as Sangenís i Vaqué. Since then, in this winery they have maintained the balance between new winemaking trends and tradition, making wines that combine both.
All the vineyards are located in the area of Porrera, within the DOQPriorat, planted in bundles and slopes, on the famous “Llicorella” (schistose slate soil). These poor soils together with a dry climate (450 mm) facilitate minimal production and high quality.
